Normand L. Riel, age 73, formerly of Woonsocket, RI passed away February 19, 2024 at his home in West Warwick surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 22, 1950, in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Henry Riel and Lillian Riel (Hall).

Normand was a one of a kind husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was cherished for 53 years by his wife Marilyn Riel (LeBlanc). Survived by his three children: Paula Brown and husband Dan Brown, Normand Riel Jr. and wife Kimberly Riel, and Michael Riel.

Normand grew up in Manville with his 6 siblings, the late Raymond Riel; Henry Riel; the late Edward Riel; Florence Dery; Suzanne Carriere, and the late Yvonne Drawdy.

Normand retired in 2020 as a maintenance supervisor with Hallkeen Management. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed family gatherings. He was Santa for the children every Christmas. He was a man of few little words but was loved by everyone. He loved and was loved by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Normand will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His stories, wit, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Per request there will be no funeral services as the family wishes to do a private memorial service.
